I just wanted to share with you an often a little known fact – private health funds and insurers offer rebates, refunds and subsidies towards the purchase of your new wig, Topette, topper, hair piece, hair system or Sensigraft.
Some are quite generous (up to $1000) and others are kind of stingy. Regardless of how much you receive, you should make the best use of it. How much you will receive will depend upon your level of cover and eligibility.
Below is a survey of the major health insurers in Australia and what they currently offer (November 2011).
Quick Tips
- look over the table, and make sure you receive your full benefit.
- Ring up you health insurer to find out the conditions – some will only cover 'human hair wigs' or 'natural hair wigs'. Some may only cover women's hair loss, others may also cover men's hair loss (but most likely not hereditary hair loss).
Once you know the cover you can receive, let us know too so we can invoice you correctly so you can receive the full benefit that you are entitled too (assuming that you purchase your next wig from us – we certainly hope you do!!!).
