News Reporter Battles Breast Cancer and Hair Loss in Public

Hi Readers,

Every now and then one of our fellow members makes it into the media and Kudos is due. This is one such occasion. My good friend and colleague Michael Suba (Toronto, Canada) is tends to be in the news more than most and here is an example of such an occasion. It's a 'feel good' story of Cynthia Mullian, one of Canada's TV news presenters, as she decided to go public with her breast cancer diagnosis and share her journey though the treatment.

As many of you know, breast cancer often means being treated with a course of Chemotherapy, this was the case with Cynthia Mulligan too. A consequence of Chemotherapy can be hair loss, Cynthia Mulligan decided to prepare herself for this event. When her blond hair began to fall out she had it cut and went shopping for a wig with her young daughters. Cynthia Mulligan works as the Education Specialist and Host on CityNews Toronto. She went to see Michael at Continental Hair, a fellow Transitions International hair restoration center, see the latest technology in 100% human hair wigs. Her motto: “Look Good. Feel Good.'

In the story she filed above, she talks about why she decided to investigate a wig (or hair prosthesis), why she took her young daughters along, and how she talked with them about breast cancer.
